Established in 1995, MFRC provides furniture restoration, upholstery, French polishing, cabinet making, rush and cane seating repairs and picture framing services to the residents of Chelmsford and mid-Essex. Based in the grounds of a restored 17th century water mill, MFRC is dedicated to helping adults with mental health problems rehabilitate to the world of work through therapeutic work experience and accredited City & Guilds courses.

This project aims to create a city in which every work and life experience can be provided by an economically and environmentally sustainable co-operative by 2030. Already thousands of people are employed and volunteer with co-operatives in Southampton. With over 20% growth in the sector between 2008 and 2014, co-operatives have performed signficantly better than other types of organisation.
