"If only I had a Wicked Spreadsheet” [1:34]
Creating Community Wealth by Taking Over (or Creating) Buildings and Assets the Co-operative Way
The Wicked Spreadsheet is an interactive tool that provides you with a broad overview of financial viability and projections for a project including a building take over. This smart tool provides a mechanism to help you look quickly at the financial viability and income projections of a potential space, place, property for long-term community wealth generation and ownership and it allows you to easily explore variable options. The Wicked Spreadsheet compiles learning from many previous similar exercises and is designed to remove the drudgery and technicality from the process. It assumes a Community Benefit Society is the vehicle and allows for one 'community share offer' which is repaid over time but in reality there could be more, which would be covered in more detailed financial projections.
Members of groups considering taking on community assets of any kind and officers of local authorities or infrastructure organisations facilitating community wealth building and opportunities for community ownership will find this tool very useful.
You can watch a webinar about it here [26:31].
If you would like to use this tool then join the open source community of users, either as an individual or corporate body. You will then be provided with a copy of the latest version, a license to use it in perpetuity, the ability to report bugs and suggest improvements and access to other users via a lively and growing WhatsApp group.
