Finance, Bookkeeping workshop

This component introduces students to the fundamental principles of accounting and takes them as far as setting up a bookkeeping system, entering data into the ledgers and carrying out a Trial Balance and a Bank Reconciliation. It is based on a practical exercise designed to be fun, relevant and interactive.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the workshop, the students should be able to:

  • Produce a sample set of books/ledgers from information supplied
  • Carry out a Trial Balance
  • Carry out a Bank Reconciliation

Workshop Duration

This workshop takes a half day and is designed to be followed by the Finance, Generating Financial Information workshop, which covers preparing P&L, balance sheets etc.

Please note that it may not be possible to achieve all the learning objectives in shorter versions of workshops.
