CUSO-UK was launched recently at a conference of its founder members, including CAN.
This is the first organisation of its kind in the UK, being open to Credit Unions, businesses that supply or want to supply them, Credit Union Development Bodies (such as CAN) and supporters of Credit Union development such as trades unions, local authorities and housing associations.
The mission of CUSO-UK is to make British Credit Unions great. It facilitates the growth and strengthening of the Credit Union movement by providing a mutual market in which all the parties can learn about each other and what they can do for each other, driving trade and collaboration between them leading to the development of new and better services.
CUSO-UK is a multi-stakeholder co-operative – every member has an equal vote and it conforms to the co-operative values and principles. CUSO-UK is committed to bringing the co-operative advantage, good regulation, good governance and effective operations to the whole movement, including the suppliers, members and supporters of Credit Unions, regardless of trade association affiliation.
